DOES IT HURT?
Everybody has a different pain tolerance, but for the most part, Microblading should not be a painful procedure. The sensation felt during the procedure is more of a discomfort than a pain, you will be numbed with a topical anaesthetic, and should just feel a scratching sensation- likened to threading by most people. Most of my clients would rate it 4/10 pain and are surprised by how comfortable it is and how quick it's over!
HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
The retention of your brows depends on several factors; aftercare, skin type, and how you care for your brows on a daily basis.
Ideally, Microblading should last from 12-24 months. Following the correct aftercare immediately after your treatment, going for your touch up, and daily care of your brows will greatly extend the life of them. However, skin type does come into play regarding the lifespan of your semi-permanent makeup. Clients with dry skin will find that their SPMU lasts up to around the 24+ months mark, those with combination skin will find they will need to return every 14-16 months, and clients with oily skin, will more than likely, need to return for touch ups every 12 months. Those with incredibly active lifestyles (who are likely to be getting sweaty) will experience a little more fading than others, due to the fact that the pH level of sweat is significantly more acidic than our skin's natural pH level- this helps to lighten the pigment prematurely. Sun is also a big factor in prematurely fading Microblading, so once fully healed, it's important to put an oil free SPF 50 sun cream on the brows (and hopefully the rest of your face!) to prevent the sun from speeding up the lightening process.
IS IT A TATTOO?
Yes, Microblading is a type of cosmetic tattoo- pigment is placed into the dermis, but not as deep and less invasive than a normal tattoo. Its is still a form of a tattoo- and should be taken as seriously as a traditional tattoo when considering this treatment.
WHAT WILL MY BROWS LOOK LIKE RIGHT AFTER?
Immediately after your treatment, you eyebrows will appear 30-40% darer than they will once fully healed, this is due to the pigment having no healed skin over it to dilute the colour, and the fact that blood under the surface of the skin will mix with pigment and dry darker (this will go when scabbing occurs). Their shape will also look slightly more dramatic- but over the span of 4-7 days they will have faded into a lighter colour and their soft shape. So no need to panic- the pigment is just settling into the skin. Although this all sounds rather scary, I can assure you that none of my clients ever leave the clinic looking "crazy" or feeling the need to hide their faces in public! The brows are only slightly more dramatic than you're used to, not sharpie brows! Feel free to check the "Gallery" page on my website to see pictures of brows immediately after being Microbladed.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?
Microblading takes a month to fully heal, and you should return for your touch up 4-6 weeks after your first appointment.
CAN I HAVE MY TOUCH UP SOONER THAN 4 WEEKS?
No, the skin isn't fully healed until the 4 week mark. We are unable to do the touch up appointment before this time as the pigment hasn't settled fully into the skin. This also helps to prevent scar damage because the skin requires some time to fully repair.
WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS LIKE?
The healing process is not as scary as it may seem, when researching online! Over the years, I have formulated the most effective aftercare programme that prevents heavy scabbing and "crazy" brows. It's quite common for my clients to not even notice any scabbing, and those who do typically have very minimal scabbing. However, it is very important to note that good aftercare is key to healing well and achieving great results.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICROBLADING AND TRADITIONAL SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP?
The Microblading procedure is carried out using a hand held tool, ink is deposited into the skin via small scratches, made with a blade formed of small needles. Traditional semi-permanent makeup uses a micro pigmentation machine- where a fine needle (similar to a tattoo gun) deposits ink deeper into the skin, in turn, making it longer lasting. Microblading is a more natural and precise form of brow tattooing, compared to Semi-Permanent Makeup giving a "powdered makeup" appearance.
HOW LONG DOES THE APPOINTMENT TAKE?
The Microblading treatment typically takes 2 hours, including consultation, brow mapping, numbing and then Microblading. I take my time with you, to ensure that you are happy with the shape, colour and style of your brow. After all, perfection takes time! You'll be pleased to know that the actual Microblading only takes around 30 minutes.
I'M VERY FAIR, CAN I HAVE MICROBLADING?
Absolutely, the lightest colour pigment available is very subtle and was would be suitable for almost white hair. Microblading is a completely bespoke treatment and results are completely custom made. My clients are always shocked at how subtle and natural results are, even immediately after treatment, check out the "Gallery" page on my website to see some blondies' brow before & afters.
I HAVE LOST ALL MY BROW HAIR, CAN I HAVE MICROBLADING?
YES! Microblading is a phenomenal treatment for people who have lost their brow hair; chemotherapy, alopecia, stress-related conditions can all cause hair loss and can create a lot of confidence issues for many of the men and women it affects. With microblading, fine hair strokes are etched into the skin to create a hair-like effect. Results can be as subtle or bold as you like- but it will always look totally natural. It transforms the face totally.
I WANT TO MAKE MY BROWS DARKER, IS THIS POSSIBLE?
I ALREADY HAVE DARK & FULL BROWS, CAN I HAVE MICROBLADING?
It's entirely possible to have full brows and still want to adjust or tweak the shape. Perhaps your brows are full all over except for that little gap by your arch. Maybe you have full brows but lack a defined shape? Have asymmetry that you cant seem to correct by shaping or filling in your brows? All of these can be corrected by Microblading. Even having already full brows, the results that can be created by Microblading can be extraordinary!
I HAVE HAD MICROBLADING BEFORE, CAN I COME TO BY KITTY?
Of course, providing your brows have faded a suitable amount (if you're wanting a correction) and are not overly discoloured or asymmetric. I can work my magic on nearly every set of brows to correct them, and many of my clients see me for correction work. Whether it's correcting asymmetry, achieving different results or changing the shape- we can correct nearly everything.
Just send over some pictures to my email: firstname.lastname@example.org so that I can take a look at what I can do for you. *Some common issues that may prevent me from working over previous SMPU would be; blue faded pigment, tattooing that you want to reduce in size or massive asymmetry (as these would need some form of removal before the brows can be corrected)*.
CAN I COME TO YOU FOR A COLOUR-BOOST IF I INITIALLY SAW A DIFFERENT MICROBLADING TECHNICIAN?
You can absolutely come to me for a touch up if you have previously seen another technician, however, you will be charged for a new set of brows and will require two sessions. This is because I will be creating new hair strokes, using my own pattern and using a different technique- one session will not last due to this. Although there is already pigment under your skin, I am still essentially starting from the entire process, again, using my techniques.
WHAT IF I DO NOT LIKE IT?
As with all cosmetic procedures, you should not make choices lightly. I always recommend clients do their own research, understand the procedure and compare different artists' work and portfolio when making their decisions. As a Brow Technician, I will spend the time with you to discuss your desired brows, custom blending a pigment, mapping the shape & ensuring that you're 100% happy with everything before we go ahead with the tattooing. Every effort is be made to achieve an even appearance, including extensive measurements and Bespoke Brow Mapping but please realise, our faces are never perfectly symmetrical. The touch up session is the fine-tuning appointment, we perfect and give the brow permanence, any pigment discolouration or shaping tweaks can also be fixed during this session. Microbladed brows will eventually fade away if no additional touch ups are done.
DO YOU SHAVE OFF MY OWN BROWS?
Absolutely not! We create an outline that you're happy with and only remove the hair that sits outside this outline. If your Microblading Technician wants to shave your natural brows off, RUN!
WHAT ABOUT PLUCKING MY BROWS AFTER HAVING MICROBLADING?
It's even easier than usual! You are able to pluck the unruly brows as and when they sprout up because you'll have a perfect guideline to help. It will be very obvious which brows are strays as they will be visibly out of the brow shape. Just brush through the brows when plucking to make sure you're only removing hair that's outside of your new Microbladed shape.
WILL THEY FADE ORANGE OR GREY?
They will not fade orange or grey, at all! Orange faded brows occur when a cheap pigment has been used- containing iron oxides and various other heavy metals. Microblading pigment is not designed to last permanently under the skin, over the years, it will fade completely- unlike iron oxides, that will stay in the skin forever. The orange shadow that you can may have seen on others' faded brows is the iron oxide that is left under surface of the skin, no longer camouflaged by the pigment. Grey, or even blue faded brows are a result of the pigment being implanted too deep into the dermis. The pigment blurs and appears overly cool-toned.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM MICROBLADING?
